Shoreham Academy named top non-selective school for Progress 8 in the local league tables and third in all of West Sussex

~ School continues to see ‘above average’ progress for students at both GCSE and A Level ~

Students and staff at Shoreham Academy are on a high with this week’s new league tables showing that once again progress of students is above the national average.

Out of non-selective schools, Shoreham Academy’s Progress 8 figure puts it at the top of the table for East Worthing and Shoreham and in third place for the whole of West Sussex. Progress 8 is the government’s measure which records pupil progress from the end of primary school to the end of their GCSEs.

For 16-18 year olds, Shoreham Academy’s results are equally strong, with its Sixth Form results showing that students continue to make above average progress. This is backed up by the school’s destinations data – with many of last summer’s graduating cohort going onto Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.

Jim Coupe, Principal of Shoreham Academy, said:

“Once again, we are delighted with our position in the local and regional league tables. They demonstrate that our students are consistently making above average progress during their time with us, benefiting from an excellent education that allows them to move on successfully to the next stages of Higher Education and training.

“As a non-selective school at the heart of our community, we are committed to bringing out the very best in everyone and ensuring that each of our students is given the tools, encouragement and environment for success. And this doesn’t just end at their GCSEs – our incredibly popular Sixth Form regularly sees students win places at the best universities in the UK and the world. This is a tribute to their dedication and that of our staff, as well as the support of parents and the wider school community.”
