Parent Forum

At Shoreham Academy, we are committed to listening and responding to, the views and opinions of our parents/carers as we want to ensure that our parents/carers feel completely happy with their child's education and that their views and opinions are listened to and acted upon.

The Shoreham Academy Parent Forum meet once a term for about an hour. During the meeting, there are opportunities to discuss a variety of topics, to put forward ideas and suggestions, and to give feedback on new initiatives.

We have started a new Parent Forum section within the Firefly Parent Portal, this contains all the minutes and presentations from the Parent Forum with details on how you can get further involved with certain topics and issues.

What is the Parent Forum?

A parent forum is a body of parents, representing parents, with the support of the school. The Parent Forum provides an excellent platform for parents to come together, share ideas and put forward their ideas and views to the principal, the school leadership team and the Governing Body.

Parent Forum’s evolve differently in schools, however they all serve two distinct but related purposes:

1. To give parents/carers a voice and increase their active involvement in school life

2. To develop a partnership between the school and parents/carers in order to support and promote the students’ learning and bring about change

Who can attend the Parent Forum?

The Parent Forum is open to any parent who has a child at the academy.

Who is the key contact at the academy to register interest/attendance for the Parent Forum?

The lead contact is Hayley Hill, Vice Principal, however all questions and interest in contributing to the Parent Forum should be made via elaine.richardson@shoreham-academy.org

When is the next Parent Forum meeting?

The next Parent Forum meeting  will be in Autumn term 2025. Date TBC

Parent Forum meetings for the remainder of this academic year will be announced shortly

Are there any other related opportunities for parent/guardians?

Friends of Shoreham Academy (FoSA) originally referred to as the Parent Teacher Association in another parent group that provides opportunities for parents/guardians of Shoreham Academy students to contribute to school life. The three key aims for FoSA are:

1. To positively promote Shoreham Academy within the local community

2. To act as a liaison between parents/guardians and teachers on general matters

3. To raise funds for the benefit of the Shoreham Academy school community and local charities

If you would like to join or find out more about FoSA then contact fosa@shoreham-academy.org
