16-19 Study Programme Requirements

All students are carefully guided through enrolment to ensure that they have access to the full Study Programme for 16-19 education.

This includes:

A Study Programme which meets the minimum 580 planned hours in terms of delivery and preparation. These are all highly substantive courses which give students a high chance of reaching their desired destination.

A Core Aim which is tailored to students’ abilities and aspirations.

Students participate in mentor group discussions and activities, guiding students through the VESPA course. This develops their study skills and ability to think clearly about their future.

All students in year 12 have access to a high-quality work placement to give them relevant experience of the workplace. Bespoke placements are put in place to support students’ future career plans and aspirations.

We provide provision for students on retake English and Maths courses for all students who have not achieved a Grade 4 at GCSE. We have specialist and experienced teachers dedicated to ensuring they pass with this additional opportunity in sixth form. For students who scored a 1 or 2 at GCSE we also run Functional Skills courses in both Maths and English.

In addition to the study programme students are supported through their post-18 options. Students attend Destination Workshops every half term, which encourage students to consider their options carefully and give them the knowledge they need to make the correct choice for their future. All students have support throughout the UCAS process and have individual consolations to discuss their personal statement and course choices. Bespoke support is in place for students not applying to university, including meetings with the careers advisor, the head of sixth form, and a dedicated programme for apprenticeship, work and further study.
