As you have been made aware, since the start of the new term students in KS3 have no longer been taught and assessed against traditional levels. The National Curriculum has changed and it is no longer possible to use levels, this has given us a great opportunity to create a KS3 that is right for our students.
At Shoreham Academy we are teaching a knowledge lead curriculum that is based on the new National Curriculum and aims for “age expected” learning. Students will be assessed against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that have been mapped so that the vast majority of students are working at or exceeding age expected learning which will allow them to be successful at KS3 and beyond.
As part of this change at KS3 parents will receive reports 3 times a year that show whether their child is “Secure” at age expected learning and which KPIs they haven’t met. This will be alongside information showing attitude towards learning, attendance and behaviour/rewards points. The 1st reports will go to parents in December.
KPIs for each subject are listed on the attachements below for each year group.
