Internal Assessments

At Shoreham Academy, in addition to regular assessment of our students learning and progress, which is embedded within our lessons, twice a year our students are tested with longer assessments. These allow them to practise connecting evidence from across a wider periodand also help teachers and subject teams identifycommon areas that need re-teaching or common misconceptions that need addressing before moving on. These assessments also help us identify where a student might have fallen behind with the learning so we can plan to support them in catching up.

For Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12, Mid Year Assessments take place around December each year and End of Year Assessments normally take place at the end of June. The results of these assessments are made available to parents and guardians in schools reports, alongside an evaluation of their attitude to learning for each subject.

For Years 11 and 13, Mock 1 exams will take place in November followed by Mock 2 exams in February.Mock exams are essential preparation for the formal exams, and colleges will require Mock 1 results for sixth-form applications.
