On Friday 2nd May, Shoreham Academy was visited by our local MP, Tom Rutland, who held a meeting with our student council. We discussed many subjects regarding our local community of Shoreham and our educational system.
The students were able to ask Mr Rutland directly some of the questions raised by our student voice, which he answered where he could, as well as informing us about how the current Labour government were going to ensure they were taking care of the country and our community.
Some of the ideas Mr Rutland shared with us as Labour's plans of action were: doubling the number of wind farms to make us a more sustainable country, improving the waiting times in our healthcare system and, more locally, rewilding our local area to protect our ecosystem and building new homes for first-time buyers.
Much, much more was discussed, which Mr Rutland excitingly is going to work on with our student council with an ongoing project in the next academic year. We can't wait to get started and are grateful for Mr Rutland empowering us by having our voice heard.
