Two talented Shoreham Academy students are preparing to take on the world after being selected to represent England at the ICO World Championships in Thonon-les-Bains, France, this October.
Max Murphy and Zara Alabdalla have both earned places in the England team following years of dedication, hard work and outstanding commitment to martial arts. Their selection is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the perseverance they have shown both in and out of the dojo.
Max began training at KBF Martial Arts Academy in January 2020 at just four years old. Through consistent effort, determination and a passion for the sport, he achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt in February 2025 at the age of nine.
Alongside his martial arts training, Max is also a keen footballer and has recently been selected for Shoreham Academy's Year 7 football team. Balancing two competitive sports while maintaining his education demonstrates the focus, discipline and resilience that have helped him reach the international stage.
Zara joined KBF Martial Arts Academy in 2024 and has quickly established herself as a dedicated and hardworking athlete. During her training journey, Zara has overcome personal challenges and developed tremendous confidence, self-belief and resilience.
Her commitment and determination have enabled her to continually push beyond her comfort zone, and in just two years she has earned the incredible opportunity to represent England at a world championship event.
Both students embody the values of hard work, commitment and perseverance. Their success highlights what can be achieved through dedication and a positive attitude, inspiring others to pursue their ambitions and believe in their own potential.
Representing your country on the world stage is a tremendous honour, and everyone at Shoreham Academy is incredibly proud of what Max and Zara have achieved.
