Shoreham Academy’s Sixth Form was buzzing with excitement this morning as this summer’s Year 13s continued the tradition of success with the brilliant array of destinations they secured.
The breadth of students’ talents and interests was evident in the range of next steps being taken up – all thanks to another fantastic showing in this year’s A Level results.
Alex Tyazhkorob was thrilled to secure a highly sought-after degree apprenticeship with Siemens, after achieving the grades he needed and demonstrating his exceptional qualities and work experience.
Alex said on receiving his results: "Fantastic news. I'm excited to begin my career with Siemens Energy."
Also beating the odds was Zak Smith who secured a place at internationally-renown Rambert School, thanks in part to his A* in Dance at A Level. His advanced performance skills and repertoire – including dancing in an advertisement for the French rail operator SNCF – have meant that he will join the Company at Year 2 not 1 and signal his surely bright future to come.
Zak said: "I'm over the moon. This is exactly what I've been working towards."
Another talented dancer from this year’s Year 13 cohort, Millie O’Neil, will continue her training at Bird College, University of Greenwich, where she will study Dance and Performance. Meanwhile, Bradley Kilgarriff will be heading off to the United States where he has secured a football scholarship – describing it as:
"A dream opportunity. I can't wait to start this new adventure in the USA."
Across the Year 13 cohort, over 90% of students achieved their first-choice university offer and all are excitedly confirming their next steps – a testament to their hard work and ambition throughout their studies. Among those opting for university are many with Russell Group offers, including:
- Owen Mowat and Lewis Taylor, who will both be joining the University of Exeter to study Physics and Finance respectively;
- Megan Tranter, who has secured a place at King’s College London to study Psychology and said she was "absolutely delighted”;
- Lucas Boyle, who will be studying Mathematics at the University of Southampton.
Lucas commented: "I'm incredibly happy with my results and excited for the next chapter."
Pelda, who achieved a place at the University of Plymouth Medical School, added:
"I'm so proud of what I've achieved. Hard work, determination and resilience really do pay off."
Commenting on the day, Susanna Brooks, Head of Sixth Form, said: “This has been another fantastic year where our Sixth Formers have challenged themselves to do their very best and achieved great outcomes which reflect this.
“Across our Sixth Form, we aim to foster the individual interests, skills and qualities of each young person – giving them the opportunity to thrive and excel in the areas they most want to develop. Yet the strength of ambition running through our Sixth Form remains the same for everyone – as is evident in the destinations our Year 13s have secured this year.
“Whether dance, maths, the sciences or sport, our students have gained the qualifications and offers they need to take their next steps in their chosen fields and careers which is brilliant to see.”

Whether they have been at Shoreham Academy since Year 7, or joined later or for Sixth Form, I know they have all played their own part in our school.
