Congratulations to Year 12 Student Leila Goble - Appointed High Sheriff Cadet for Sussex

We are incredibly proud to announce that Leila Goble (Year 12) has successfully been appointed as a High Sheriff Cadet for Sussex - an exceptional achievement reached by only two young people in the entire county each year.
Becoming a High Sheriff Cadet is a highly competitive and prestigious process. Cadets are selected for their leadership, character, community spirit, and commitment to public service.
What Is the High Sheriff of Sussex?
The High Sheriff is a historic ceremonial role, appointed annually, representing the monarch in matters relating to law, order, and community cohesion. Although largely symbolic today, the position remains deeply respected, supporting:
  • Crime prevention initiatives
  • Civic and charitable events
  • The judiciary, police, and emergency services
  • Community partnerships across Sussex
This ancient role continues to highlight the important connection between local justice and the Crown.
What This Means for Leila
As a High Sheriff Cadet, Leila will gain a unique and inspiring insight into law, justice, and community leadership. Her responsibilities will include:
  • Court visits, assisting High Court judges
  • Police and prison visits, supporting law enforcement and emergency services
  • Volunteering at foodbanks, community projects, and mental health initiatives
  • Royal visits, supporting the Lord-Lieutenant during engagements with the Royal Family
  • Civic events, participating in meetings with mayors, councillors, and community leaders
She will also be involved in the national Crime Beat event in London, where police cadet units from across England present initiatives supporting crime prevention-a competition the High Sheriff is eager to take to the finals again this year.
A Remarkable Opportunity
This role will not only help Leila develop confidence, leadership, and communication skills but will also connect her with inspirational figures across Sussex who are committed to making our communities safer and stronger. It is a truly special opportunity that will open new pathways for her future.
Please join us in congratulating Leila on this outstanding accomplishment. She embodies Shoreham Academy’s values in every way, and we are excited to support her through this incredible journey.
