School uniform
All our students are expected to follow the dress code. We consider our requirements to be reasonable and therefore we do expect parental support. Students who arrive at academy in unacceptable clothing may be sent home to change. If you have difficulty in providing your child with school uniform, clothing grants are available depending upon your income. Applications for assistance may be made through the academy. The following are our requirements:
Years 7, 8 and 9 Girls and Boys
- Navy blue blazer with pale blue piping and school logo (boy and girl styles available from the academy)
- Pale blue school shirt ( must be shirts with top buttons)

Jewellery
In the interests of safety, jewellery, if worn, should be minimal. We cannot accept any responsibility for its loss or for its safekeeping. NO hooped earrings larger than a 10 pence piece should be worn. Other facial piercings are NOT permitted.
Tattoos
As the law states that minors under the age of 18 are not legally allowed to obtain a tattoo, even with parental permission, we would not expect to see students in school with tattoos.
Hair Colour
We do not expect to see students in school with blue, green, pink, purple or any other unnaturally dyed hair colour.
Essential Equipment
We expect our students to arrive at the academy equipped to undertake their study. Each student requires:
- a pen, lead pencils, coloured pencils, ruler and rubber.
- a protractor, compass and calculator
- a ‘pocket’ English dictionary
- a bag for books and equipment
Calculators
Since all students are encouraged to use a calculator when appropriate on their Maths lessons, it would be helpful if they could have their own and become familiar with it, since all calculators do not operate in the same way. Many students will need a scientific calculator (models with the trigonometric functions would be adequate) for use both in their GCSE work in Years 10 and 11 and also in their final examinations. Calculators can be bought from the Maths Department.
Dictionaries
Modern Languages Dictionaries can be bought at a discount from the MFL Department.
All items of clothing and equipment should be clearly marked with the student’s name to help avoid loss.
Students in the academy’s Sixth Form are not required to wear uniform. They are, however, expected to dress in a smart, business-like manner.
