Consultation to increase the size of our sixth form.
We have identified from current and predicted retention rates into our sixth form that by September 2011 we will have more eligible applicants than we have funded student spaces.
When the admissions number was originally set for the Academy, we challenged it on the basis that it was too low. At that time the capacity of our new building was thought to be the restrictive factor, but the final design has proven that we can easily accomodate another fifty students without the need for further capital investment.
In order to obtain permission to increase our sixth form admissions number we must carry out a consultation with all stakeholders. Following this consultation we will then present our application to the Secretary of State. The outline business case for an increase to 300 students is attached to this document and we invite you to read it and express your views.
