Academy closure due to strike
You may be aware that the teaching unions, as well as other public service unions, have voted to take industrial action and go on strike on Wednesday 30th November. The strike is not specific to Shoreham Academy, and will affect every school in the country to a greater or lesser extent.
We will therefore be closed to the majority of students on this day. However, the following options will be available:
- We do intend to open our Sixth Form for independent study, supported by Mr Widdows and members of the Sixth Form Pastoral team.
- The school choir is being invited in by Mrs Manton to rehearse for their Christmas performances.
- Mr Hall will individually invite a number of Year 11s to attend, to catch up with their BTEC Science work. These students will receive a separate letter informing them of the arrangements for the day.
- Mrs Bristow will be offering students taking GCSE Dance the opportunity to rehearse and revise in the Dance Studio; Year 10 from 9am-11am and Year 11 from 12pm-2pm.
The school will also be open to those students who would otherwise be unsupervised on this day, from 9am until 2pm. We will however require prior parental notification of this by no later than Tuesday 29th November. It is advised that these students bring their P.E. kit with them.
